Welcome to Virtual Stride 2020
Stride is usually a 10Km walk around the picturesque Lanhydrock grounds to raise money for Cancer Research UK and to boost awareness of the Liskeard Relay For Life – Cornwall which is held at the rugby field in Liskeard over the bank holiday weekend at the end of May.
This year due to Covid 19 we have not been able to hold our normal Stride event so we have organised a Virtual Stride.
The idea is to encourage people to do a 5Km walk during November and to donate what would have been the entrance fee (£10) for Stride to their Liskeard Relay For Life team.
Even if you cannot do the walk you can still donate to your team or if you are not in a team you can donate to the Stride With Hope team.
We would like to share your achievements on this site so please send in your photos to our Facebook page @relayforlifeliskeard or post on our blog page email to Chair@liskeardrelay.org
Or why not take on the ultimate challenge and complete 5 – 5Km walks in November. They don’t have to be the 5 Sundays and they don’t have to be the suggested walks from the notice.
Make it a National event
We already have walks from Stroud. How far from Cornwall can we go? Try to encourage your friends from far afield to join in.
Walks already completed
I have tried to put the walks in order with the latest at the top of the page but trying to keep up with Facebook changing the positions on the page has made it very difficult. I have tried to select the best 6 pictures uploaded.
If you click on an image you will get the full size version. If you are using a tablet or mobile phone, I would recommend viewing in landscape might be better.
Steve and Jane Gimblett. Jane had a walk around Saltash with Rita but no photos. Today we went to down to Forder and Antony Passage. The weather was very pleasant which is more than you can say about St Stephens Hill, and the pub at the top was closed.

Charlotte Willcocks and Adam Griffiths. So yesterday we completed our first 5k walk around Plymouth for #virtualstridecornwall in aid of cancer research through Relay for Life Cornwall – Liskeard. Michael and Caroline Richards. Been out with Caroline Richards and completed the first walk. Seaton in the rain was lovely. Started out nice, but a nice hot chocolate helped dry us out at the end.
Becca Jayne. Another #virtualstridecornwall walk was completed last night by the lovely Princess daily walks for the Creative Academy Quilt of Hope team! Thank you for joining us!
Didn’t manage yesterday but took the dog today (hence the slow time) all tired out now.
Sue Webster. Ended up doing about 8km!! Lovely walk to North Dimson, Bitthams, across New Bridge, along Dukes Walk (?), back through Lower Dimson…
Joy Parker from Parkers Pink Ladies. The first to submit photos of her walk around Lanhydrock. Love the wig.
