Stride 2020

Welcome to Virtual Stride 2020

Stride is usually a 10Km walk around the picturesque Lanhydrock grounds to raise money for Cancer Research UK and to boost awareness of the Liskeard Relay For Life – Cornwall which is held at the rugby field in Liskeard over the bank holiday weekend at the end of May.

This year due to Covid 19 we have not been able to hold our normal Stride event so we have organised a Virtual Stride.

The idea is to encourage people to do a 5Km walk during November and to donate what would have been the entrance fee (£10) for Stride to their Liskeard Relay For Life team.

Even if you cannot do the walk you can still donate to your team or if you are not in a team you can donate to the Stride With Hope team.

We would like to share your achievements on this site so please send in your photos to our Facebook page  @relayforlifeliskeard or post on our blog page email to   Chair@liskeardrelay.org

Or why not take on  the ultimate challenge and complete 5 – 5Km walks in November.  They don’t have to be the 5 Sundays and they don’t have to be the suggested walks from the notice.

Make it a National event

We already have walks from Stroud.  How far from Cornwall can we go? Try to encourage your friends from far afield to join in.

Walks already completed

I have tried to put the walks in order with the latest at the top of the page but trying to keep up with Facebook changing the positions on the page has made it very difficult.  I have tried to select the best 6 pictures uploaded.

If you click on an image you will get the full size version.  If you are using a tablet or mobile phone, I would recommend viewing in landscape might be better.

Jane and Steve Gimblett.   Jane and I completed our 5th 5Km walk today. A lovely sunny day for the end of November. The advantages of being retired and not having to walking at a weekend. It was a shame the coffee shop was closed due to the lock down.

We also celebrated the fact that thanks to the NHS and Cancer Research UK we have had extra time to enjoy this wonderful part of our county with her as it was 20 years ago today Mum had her mastectomy. If you would like to donate please visit https://relay.cancerresearchuk.org/…/RelayFo…/General… and help the Virtual Stride group reach their lockdown target of £500.

We made the most of the dry weather today for our third 5K Stride raising money for Relay for Life Cornwall – Liskeard.  Today’s canal walk was along the Thames and Severn in Stroud, a real chance to see how the canals supported transportation to and from the Cotswold Mills.
If anyone would like to make a donation they can do so by following this link https://liskeardrelay.org and donating to our team, Parkers’ Pink Ladies. 😊
